Summary of Chapter Activities & Accomplishments

Attendance National & Regional Events:
National Convention in Albuquerque, NM – 5 members attended
Capitol Conference Washington D.C. (February 21-24, 2016) – 4 members
President Elect attended the Leadership Forum during Cap Conference
Region 3 Leadership Conference – Chicago, IL – 5 members attended
Annual State Convention held in Indianapolis on September 28-29, 2016, 4 members attended
Leadership Training Workshops held during the Region 3 meeting, 7 members attended
NEIAHU members serving on the ISAHU Board – 4 members
ISAHU Annual Strategic Planning Session – held in Indianapolis, IN -4 members attended
Local Chapter Events:
This group of Board members represented the largest group of volunteers for chapter. Added new committees to allow more involvement of membership: Golf Outing, Sponsorship, Hospitality
Reviewed & Updated Chapter Strategic Plan and Chapter By-laws
Chapter Board members participated in Leadership Training & Strategic Planning sessions, in July
Board members attended 11 Monthly planning meetings
Conducted General Monthly Membership Meetings, 11 meetings
Hosted 3 additional meetings – NAHU Live Webinars earning 1 CE hour each to members and guests
10th Annual Chapter Recognition Program held December 20, 2016
Annual Golf Outing – New Month & New venue, Brookwood Golf Course held September 15, 2016, with the proceeds benefiting Erin’s House, the organization voted by members
Annual Super CE Day held on April 28, 2016. Full day of speakers, sponsors and networking.
2nd Summer Social was held at Tin Caps Park – Hosted by The HSA Authority, the July Event included members & guests with donations going towards ISAHUPAC
December General Membership meeting included a Holiday Social, Event was held in the evening
Chapter Business Activities:
NAHU approval of Updated Chapter Bylaws March 2016
2016 – 2017 NEIAHU Annual Budget approved
Converted Financials and banking to Online Quick books accounting process
Maintain D&O Insurance & Liability Insurance for chapter through ISAHU
Continue work towards chapter “Not for Profit” Status – anticipated completion 1st Q 2017
Qualified for the NAHU “Silver Seal Certification” in 3/2007, 3/2008, 3/2009 & 3/2011
Qualified for the NAHU “Gold Seal Certification” in 3/2012, 3/2013, 3/2014, 3/2015, 3/2016
Public Service
Committee showcased the following “Organization Making a Difference” (OMD) at our monthly meetings: The League, Neighbor Link, City of Ft Wayne Operation 4-F, Hope Alive, Work One Northeast, Big Brother/ Big Sister, The Rescue Mission, Aging and In home Services, Crosswinds
Served on Golf committee and collected donations from the Annual Golf Event to raise funds for OMD – chosen by the membership. 2016 Erin’s House received both toy and monetary donation
Presented check donation to Erin’s House – as part of the September monthly meeting
Made monetary contributed to the NAHU Educational Foundation during Annual Convention
Collected items and monetary donations for The Rescue Mission for December project
Communications:
12 Monthly e-Newsletters emailed to all members and other insurance professionals
Special email “blasts” on special events, membership contests, LPRT reminders, etc.
State and National Operation Shouts –
Actively evaluating format and content to better serve our members.
Monthly meeting announcements with follow up reminders
Website/ Technology:
Continue to improve local website to allow easier access to NEIAHU information. Content is being loaded and updated weekly.
Looking for additional sections to include member interest items. Added scrolling pictures
Links to both State and National websites as well as 1 interactive calendar for all events
Set up on-line register and payment option
Sends out monthly announcements and reminders for events
Created google account to store chapter documents, pictures, committee activity
Investigating the use of other social media and other interactive communications. Introduced the video announcements to help spark interest
Legislative Activity:
Chapter Legislative Chair participates on the ISAHU Legislative Committee as well as serves as ISAHU HUPAC Chair
Local members visited legislative representatives during the February Visits on the Hill in Washington, D.C.
April 28th Super CE Day Event included ISAHU lobbyist providing legislative update and Overview April 18th membership meeting – Held a panel discussion with our state legislative candidates
September 19th membership meeting – guest speakers included ISAHU Past President David Berman and Congressman James Banks
October 10th Special Meet and Greet with Legislative Candidates- event held at Chop’s Restaurant
October 21st Luncheon Fundraiser for Todd Young. Legislative Chair and Local President attended
Encouraged Operation Shout participation both on State and National level throughout the year
HUPAC / ISAHUPAC:
New chair position on the board this year.
Federal Health Underwriters PAC Contributors – 14 members
Indiana State Association Health Underwriters PAC Contributors – 4 members
Chapter contributes to the HUPAC Administrative Fund
Chapter contributes to the ISAHUPAC Administrative Fund
Actively promoted HUPAC & ISAHU-PAC in e-newsletters, monthly meeting
Membership:
Broken into two Committees: Recruiting new members and Retention of current members
Participated on Regional & State monthly membership conference calls.
Recruiting Efforts – largest growth of new members in past several years. –gain 21
Retention Rate – 88%; exceeding both State and National goal
Began the development of a New Member Packet and Orientation program

Ways N Means:
Held our two annual fund raising events:
- Annual Golf Outing – September 15, 2016 with 17 teams, 15 volunteers, 18 sponsors
- Super CE Day Event – April 120 attendees, 19 sponsors, 17 Presenters
Recorded breaking results with both events. Excellent Committee planning, Outstanding Membership participation, and super volunteers.
Sponsorship Programs:
Recruited Platinum partner – Anthem BC/BS
Committee was created to strengthen our Sponsorship packages and vendor support.

Continued the same venue for General Monthly membership meetings which allow for better networking/learning and continuity
Provided 7 hours of CE credits to NEIAHU members & guests at monthly member meetings
Rolling Announcements during networking and lunch portion of monthly meetings to help increase communication
Hosted Super CE Day Event – offered 15+ hours of CE options with 8 hours of CE credits to members & guests
Partnered with local NAIFA chapter to improve networking and industry strength in our community.
Promoted the LPRT program to the membership throughout the year. Maintaining 8 qualifiers
Hospitality:
Created committee to help streamline the registration process and welcome members and guests.
Added survey monkey after each program to get member feedback input.
Shared guest contact information with membership to help in the recruiting efforts
Prepared an annual Chapter Member assessment survey
Introduced Committee sign-up sheets at monthly meetings- to invite members to volunteer
Initiated option for on-line registration and payment options
Media Relations:

Submitted 8 Press Releases and 3 Media Advisories showcasing chapter activity
Letter to Editor – submitted 3, 2 were picked up.
